RTS Section A presentation

Thank you to everyone who joined our presentation of the Colchester Rapid Transit System Section A proposals.

Section A of the proposed route covers from the existing A12 Park & Ride Site to the Albert Roundabout. Within this section, there is existing planning permission for a ‘segregated busway’ adjacent to the Northern Approach Road.

Planning permission was initially granted by Colchester Borough Council in 2006 as part of the development of this part of the town. This was updated with further information submitted in 2012.

Since that point, plans for a new rapid transit system in the town have developed, supported by a successful funding bid in 2019. We now plan to submit amendments to the design to Colchester Borough Council for this section of the route. Due to the nature of the proposals, the design will be open to public consultation once submitted under the existing planning conditions.
