Questions and answers

I started my role in October 2023 and before moving to ECC I worked in church ministry as worship leader (essentially a musician/musical director) for 6 years, in churches in Cambridge and Andover, Hampshire.

I wanted to work in sustainable travel because I’m passionate about tackling climate change and want to make a positive difference in answering that challenge. I’m an Electric Vehicle (EV) expert and I’m passionate about making it as easy as possible for people to switch to an EV and charge it sustainably.

The best thing about my role is the collaborative way of working within the team I’m in and how well supported I am. I also love speaking to people from the equivalent teams in other county councils and learning from them!

I’m mainly working to put together a bid for a large pot of funding from the government’s Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) fund, which will help us to facilitate the necessary rollout of EV charge points across Essex for residents who can’t charge their car at home. It involves a huge amount of data analysis and detailed planning, as well as consulting lots of different colleagues from ECC and our city, district and borough councils.

From my faith perspective I try to keep Jesus as my biggest influence, but of everyone else it’s probably my mum, who is the kindest person I know.

At the weekend I work as a freelance radio football commentator mostly covering the Women’s Super League (WSL). You’ll catch me mostly on BBC Sussex covering Brighton’s home games, or on radio 5 live!

Tottenham winning the premier league.

Arsene Wenger, Thierry Henry, Alex Scott, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and the Pope.

Probably a ‘healing factor’ like Wolverine, with the ability to heal others.

My local Chinese in my home town – the White Swan restaurant.

I was a welfare officer at university and that job involved looking after drunk students at events including cleaning up their vomit.

At work submitting a LEVI business case for internal governance and personally, moving house in 2024!
