Local Highway Panels Member Requests

Scheme Requests from Members of the public

Members of the public should raise their concerns with their local County / District / City / Borough Member or their Parish Council who will then process on their behalf.

Once the County Member has agreed to support the request then they will submit the scheme for validation. It is important to clarify what the problem is in order for the highways engineers to develop the most appropriate solutions.

Each request will be validated by an engineer to ascertain if there are any obvious issues that mean the scheme cannot be delivered. If there are any appropriate engineering solutions which could be implemented. Each LHP will undertake an annual prioritisation of all validated requests. The prioritisation will take into account the total budget for the area, the initial estimated scheme cost and the benefit to the local community. Not all schemes are feasible or affordable within the annual LHP budget.

Once a scheme has been validated it will be reviewed by the panel and if suitable will be recommended on the annual prioritised scheme list.

Only once the list has been approved by the Cabinet Member and funding secured will the scheme be progressed.
