About the scheme:

In 2015 planning permission was granted by Maldon District Council to redevelop the former Brooks Bros site and land adjoining The Causeway in Maldon, to provide a Food Store, non-food Retail Units and a Hotel. The works for the development is currently underway.

In order to access and accommodate the development, highway works are necessary and Aquila have appointed PDR to undertake these works.

Plans include installing a new eastern arm off of The Causeway/A414 Roundabout, undertaking carriageway alignments, alterations to bus stops, street lighting upgrades as well as drainage improvements and resurfacing works.

A proposal is also being considered to improve pedestrian crossing facilities.

Benefits:

The purpose of the scheme is to improving pedestrian safety and promote linked trips between adjacent retail destinations.

When will the works take place?

Works are due to commence from Wednesday 11 July 2018, the first phase will approximately take one month to complete.

Works will be undertaken during off-peak times where possible, Monday to Saturday.

Please note that advertised dates may be subject to change if affected either by poor weather or if unexpected issues arise.

Traffic Management:

Advance signage/information boards will be displayed on site keeping members of the public updated.

Provision for pedestrian movements will be made throughout the works.

Throughout the various work phases, temporary carriageway restrictions, including overnight closures may be required.

We recognise this is a traffic sensitive site and measures have been put in place to minimise disruption.

Further information:

The developer/contractor will provide the necessary notifications to any affected local residents, businesses and interested parties in advance of the works, including the on-site signage.

This webpage will continue to be updated as new information becomes available as the scheme progresses.
