Welcome to the Highways Service Information Centre
A series of trial hole works will be taking place at St Botolph’s Circus roundabout in Colchester overnight between 8pm and 5am from Monday 12 May to Friday 16 May, as well as on Monday 19 May. No works will be taking place outside of these times, and any noisy works will be complete by 11pm.
The works will be carried out within the footprint of the roundabout, the immediate surrounding area, and on the junction of the A134 and Stanwell Street.
Some varying traffic management will be in place, including some lane closures. No road closures will be in place and the use of the roundabout will be available at all times. All traffic management will be removed during the day.
Trial holes are fairly shallow pits excavated into the highway surface to identify the precise location of utilities in the area. The pits are refilled once the surveys are complete.
The findings of the trial holes will be used for the development of the St Botolph’s Circus Roundabout Regeneration Project.
More information on the project can be found on its project webpage.
