Welcome to the Highways Service Information Centre
As the school summer holiday comes to an end, work on the new Jubilee Way relief road taking place at Langford Road in Heybridge continues at pace, with developers focused on meeting the planned reopening date of 1 September 2025.
Major construction works began in July to realign the carriageway, enhancing road safety and creating a connection to the newly constructed Jubilee Way relief road. To carry out these improvements safely, Langford Road has been fully closed and we would like to extend our sincere thanks to local residents and businesses for their patience and understanding throughout this period.
Despite some delays to the construction programme, the developer remains committed to reopening the road on time.
From 1 September 2025, Langford Road will reopen under temporary traffic lights, allowing vehicles to pass through while construction work continues.
Drivers will be guided between sections of the old and new road via temporary ramps, and a reduced advisory speed limit to ensure safety. We advise all road users to proceed with extra care through the road works and allow sufficient time for their journeys, as some delays are expected.
Temporary traffic management will remain in place until late September 2025, while works are completed.
The works are necessary to facilitate the opening of Jubilee Way, a new relief road between Langford Road and Broad Street Green, which will reduce traffic congestion in Maldon and Heybridge.
