Progress update on A1331 Phase 1

Octavius Infrastructure, Essex Highways’ partner for Phase 1 of the A1331 (A120-A133) Link Road, have released their latest Contractor Progress newsletter.

Highlights include: 

• The new A133 roundabout is expected to be fully operational by the autumn 

• Octavius has completed and opened the northern side of the new A133 roundabout and have switched operations to begin work on the southern side, helping traffic flow smoothly 

• The pedestrian footpath along the northern roundabout has been completed, allowing for eventual connection to the walking and cycling lane of the A1331 

• Octavius are trialling the use of sustainable, UK-manufactured biofuel for their site compound generator 

• Octavius’ community engagement, including visits to local schools in Colchester and Braintree, have helped generate £3.5m worth of social value for Essex
