About the works

As part of the approved Windermere development on Hospital Approach, Broomfield (Planning Application Ref: 23/00520/FUL), the developer will carry out the following highway improvement and road safety works:

Construction of a new bellmouth access on the northern side of Hospital Approach
Upgrades to footways along the site frontage to enhance pedestrian access
Installation of a new uncontrolled pedestrian crossing with a central island on Hospital Approach
Addition of a new traffic island to improve road safety
Relocation of the westbound bus stop on the southern side of Hospital Approach approximately 15 metres west

These improvements are essential to support the development and enhance safety and accessibility in the area.

How it will affect you

In order to carry out traffic island installation works and resurfacing on Hospital Approach, temporary overnight works are expected to take place between 8.30pm and 5am from Monday 25 August 2025 for five nights.

During this time the following measures will be in place with clear signage.

Overnight works from 25 August 2025 (five nights)	Temporary restrictions (overnight only - outside of working times temporary restrictions will be lifted)
Hospital Approach	A section of Hospital Approach will be one-way only, allowing traffic to flow westbound (from Main Road roundabout towards Court Road/Hospital). This will allow vehicles to access the hospital as normal via Hospital Approach. Vehicles exiting Hospital Approach (travelling eastbound) will be diverted via Court Road as there will be a Closure of Hospital Approach from Searle Crescent junction (east of Court Road) to Main Road roundabout (eastbound direction only) Waiting restrictions will be in place to prevent obstructive parking. Traffic management will be removed when not in use allowing full use of Hospital Approach.
Court Road	Traffic management will provide a diversion route in support of road works on adjacent road (Hospital Approach). One-way traffic southbound and then eastbound (from Hospital Approach towards B1008 Main Road). On-street parking will not be permitted along the full length of Court Road to ensure that traffic can flow safely and without obstructions.

We urge drivers to take extra care and observe all signs and restrictions in place when travelling in the area.
