Essex Walks

Essex Walks

Promoted Routes

We publish a number of guides to walks along public rights of way throughout the county. These guides are made available as downloads, free of charge.

The following guides are for walks upwards of 9 miles.

Wildside Walks

Wildside Walks are eight country walks passing through either a country park or a nature reserve.

They are all short circular walks of under 9 miles.

The England Coast Path – National Trail

Natural England are currently working toward implementing a new long-distance trail that, once completed, will enable people to walk around the whole English Coast. We are a delivery partner and will adopt the maintenance of the route once the Trail has been completed. As well as a long-distance walking route, there will be opportunities in places for the creation of a ‘coastal margin’, usually seaward of the trail, where people can explore more widely if they wish, relax and admire the view. However, the mudflats and saltmarshes of the Essex Coast are largely excluded from this access due to concerns for public safety, so please check in detail where you have the right to leave the trail.

For more information and a progress update see their website

Essex Walks

Every few months we publish an interesting walk via public rights of way around picturesque locations across Essex. They are short walks and vary in distance but are usually around 4 miles.
