Traffic Regulation Orders

A Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) is a legal order. It enables the county council, as the highway authority, to manage traffic in the county. Examples of TROs includes parking restrictions, speed limits, one-way streets, weight restrictions, no right/left turns and loading bays. The following is a list of recent traffic regulation order proposals which are currently under consultation. Please forward any comments or objections by email.

TRAF/7940 - Proposed implementation of 'No Waiting at Any Time' Restrictions on Norwood Way, Tendring.

This proposal is to implement 'No Waiting at Any Time' Restrictions on Norwood Way, and B1336 Walton Road, Frinton-On-Sea, and Walton On The Naze, in the District of Tendring. 

TRAF/7927 - Active Travel Scheme - Contraflow Cycleway, Pedestrian Crossing Upgrade & Left Turn Prohibition, B1256 Rayne Road/Coggeshall Road, Braintree

This proposal is to install a Contraflow Cycleway on B1256 Rayne Road/Coggeshall Road, upgrade the existing Pelican Crossing on B1256 Rayne Road to a sensor operated Puffin Crossing and implement a Left Turn Prohibition for vehicles on Panfield Lane travelling into B1256 Rayne Road, in the District of Braintree as part of the Essex Active Travel Fund.

This proposal is to implement 'No Waiting at Any Time' restrictions on Quay Street, Manningtree, in the District of Tendring.

TRAF/7923 - Proposed implementation of 'No Waiting at Any Time' restrictions and 'Experimental Prohibition of Motor Vehicles' on Bell Common, Epping Forest.

This proposal is to implement 'No Waiting at Any Time' restrictions on Bell Common, in the District of Epping Forest, and to implement 'Experimental Prohibition of Motor Vehicles' on Bell Common, in the District of Epping Forest.

TRAF/7907 Proposed Revocation and Implementation of parking restrictions for Disabled Parking Bays & Permit Parking, Clacton & Harwich, Tendring

This proposal is to revoke and install several parking restrictions in relation to Permit Parking and Disabled Parking Bays on various roads, Clacton and Harwich in the District of Tendring

TRAF/7919 - Proposed Revocation of 'No Waiting at Any Time', ‘No Stopping 8am-6pm Except Buses’ and 'School Keep Clear ‘No Stopping Mon-Fri 8am-4pm'. And the proposed introduction of Red Route: ‘No Stopping at Any Time’ , 'Red Route: Permit Holders Only Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm' and  ‘No Stopping at Any Time Except Buses', Tracyes Road Harlow 

This proposal is to revoke a number of parking restrictions and introduce revised parking restrictions on Tracyes Road in the District of Harlow

TRAF/7912 - Proposed Revocation and Implementation of Parking Restrictions, Newland Street, Witham, Braintree.

This proposal is to Revoke,Limited Waiting Mon-Sat 8am-6pm, 1 Hour, No Return within 3 Hours,Disabled Badge Holders Only, 3 Hour Limit, No Return within 2 Hours, ‘No Waiting at Any Time' and Bus Stop Clearway Restriction and replace them with ‘No Waiting at Any Time, Disabled Badge Holders Only, 3 Hour Limit, No Return within 2 Hours and  No Stopping Except Buses Restriction on Newland Street, Witham in the District of Braintree.

TRAF/7914 - Active Travel Scheme - Sawyers Hall Lane Brentwood, Removal of Limited Waiting Parking Bays 

This proposal is to permanenetly remove the existing parking bays on Sawyers Hall Lane which have not been in use since November 2020, in order to accommodate the plans for footway widening and the introduction of a School Street as part of the Essex Active Travel Fund.

TRAF/7906 - Active Travel Scheme - Panfield Lane Braintree Cycle Tracks & Pedestrian Crossings

This proposal is to implement various types of Cycle and Crossing facilities throughout Panfield Lane, Braintree. This includes lengths of On-carriageway Cycle Lane, Shared Unsegregated Footway/Cycleway, a new Zebra Crossing and upgrade of an existing Zebra Crossing to a Parrel Crossing with a cyclist facility.

Proposed implementation of 'Unsegregated Shared Footway/Cycleway on A133 St Andrews Avenue, Colchester.

This proposal is to implement a 'Toucan Crossing' on A133 St Andrews Avenue, in the City of Colchester. To implement 'Conversion of Footway to Unsegregated Shared Footway/Cycleway' on A133 St Andrews Avenue and A133 Cowdray Avenue, in the City of Colchester. To implement 'Unsegregated Shared Footway/Cycleway on A133 St Andrews Avenue, in the City of Colchester.
