About the scheme

As part of the planning conditions for the 'Chelmer Waterside Peninsular' development (planning reference 16/01630/FUL), Taylor Wimpey are required to carry out highway works to improve vehicle capacity, journey times and provide formal pedestrian crossing facilities to enable the public to navigate the junction more safely.

In preparation for these improvements at the junction, a number of utility companies will need to divert their underground services.

Highway works relating to this scheme will be carried out in a number of phases, with traffic management varied according to activities being carried out to minimise inconvenience to residents, businesses and the travelling public as much as reasonably practical.

How it will affect you

Following preparations carried out in 2023 to divert various utility supplies in the area, we can now confirm that the developer is ready to carry out highway improvements.

This will involve installing new traffic signals, improving pedestrian crossing points, road widening and upgrading drainage and street lighting at the Springfield Road/Navigation Road junction.

These works are scheduled to take place from the 2 April 2024 and continue into mid June 2024. Please note that the temporary traffic restrictions will be adjusted and moved as works progress to keep the impact to drivers, residents and businesses to a minimum.

Dates may be subject to change if the works are impacted by poor weather or if unexpected issues arise. Traffic r
