Countryside Properties are planning to carry out overnight works at the Boreham Interchange in Chelmsford week commencing 13 April 2026.
These works are required to address remedial repairs, surfacing and lining.
To minimise local disruption, these works will be phased and carried out between the hours of 9pm and 5am with the support of overnight road closures and temporary traffic lights.
Arrangements are also being made to ensure that emergency services will be supported through the works.
Phase one - completed
Link between Generals Lane Roundabout and Boreham Roundabout
Closure of Generals Farm roundabout including B1137 Eastbound overbridge and Main Road approaches.
Appropriate diversions will be in place

Phase two - 15 to 18 April 2026 between 9pm and 5am
Generals Lane Roundabout
Closure of Boreham Interchange roundabout including B1137 Westbound link/overbridge, A138 and A130 Northbound, and A131 Beaulieu Parkway approaches.
Appropriate diversions will be in place.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys. Please note that details may change depending on weather conditions or if unforeseen issues arise.
Information has been passed on to the bus operators. First Bus services that use the Boreham Interchange will complete their final journeys before 9pm. Full timetable details for First Bus can be found by following the provided link.
