About the works
Plans are in place to carry out essential carriageway surfacing improvements along the B1014 High Street / Point Road in Canvey Island. These works form part of ongoing efforts to enhance road conditions and improve safety for all road users.
The programme will include the removal and renewal of the road surface, joint sealing repairs, and adjustments to manholes and gullies where necessary.
Works will start mid September, continuing until early October 2025.
How it will affect you
Work is due to start on Tuesday 16 September 2025, with completion expected early October 2025. Activities will be carried out between 8pm and 5am, Monday to Friday, with the exception of Sunday 21 September when work will take place on Wall Road roundabout overnight.
Activities are being phased to minimise the amount of time spent outside individual properties, starting in the vicinity of Wall Road roundabout, working in a westerly direction towards Yamburg Road.
We understand that night-time works may cause some disruption so to limit this our noisiest operations will be carried out by 11.00pm, with quieter operations continuing thereafter.
During the day time traffic restrictions will be lifted, but drivers are advised to drive with caution through the area.
Traffic management and access
Temporary overnight road closures will be in place, with closure extents larger than the immediate work zone to ensure safety.
No through-traffic will be permitted during operational hours, and access will be restricted to residents whose properties fall directly within the work zone. Where safe to do so, convoying through the site may be permitted, though delays should be expected.
We ask residents and road users to plan ahead and use alternative routes where possible.
Bus operators have been informed and may implement alternative arrangements to maintain the service.
