About the works

We will be carrying out highway improvements on Bakers Lane / Cottis Lane. Works will involve reconstructing the carriageway and realigning the footways.

How it will affect you

In order to carry out activities in a safe manner, the work will be carried out in phases, with road closures required according to the works.

Phase One - completed From the junction with St John’s Road, to the Bakers Lane roundabout junction with Cottis Lane

 

Phase Two 

Paused from 3 May 2026 for third party utility works - now complete

Essex Highway works due to recommence 13 July.

From the roundabout with Cottis Lane, to (and including) the junction with Albany Court

Carriageway works will recommence with a full closure of the carriageway. Access to Albany Court and Bakers Lane residents will be maintained via the signed diversion route.

Phase Three - overnight road closure (currently anticipated between 8pm and 5am). One night expected during week ending Sunday 26 July (date to be confirmed) Albany Court Overnight road closure for resurfacing with no vehicle access

During the closures, a signed diversion route will be in place using the following roads: St John’s Road, Coronation Hill and Lincolns Field.
