About the scheme

Preparations are being made to carry out essential works to the culvert located on Stambridge Road, Great Stambridge. Activities will include lining works to the culvert followed by brickwork repairs.

Lining is a cost effective and efficient method of carrying out essential works which will extend the life of the culvert. This method also has a low environmental impact and allows us to carry out a full structural repair with minimal disruption to the traffic flow in the area.

What is involved and how this may it affect you

The works will be carried out in two stages, the first stage of lining works and brickwork repairs were successful completed in August 2021.

The second stage of lining works are due to take place from Monday 7 March 2022 for approximately one week.

In order to carry out the works in a safe manner a road closure will be in place on Stambridge Road for the duration.

Advance warning notices will be used to advertise the works and there will be a signed diversion route in place during the closure.

Passenger transport

Bus operators have been provided notice of the works so they can make adjustments to their services during the road closure. Passengers who wish to access the service 60 and live south of the road closure will need to contact Arrow Taxi’s who will provide a taxi to connect with the service 60 at either North Street or East Street to continue your journey.

Passengers are required to pre-book one hour before travel by calling Arrow Taxi’s on: 01621 855111.

The bus service north side of the closure will still be in operation but will turn around in Ash Tree Court and reconnect with the normal route.

To avoid delays to the school bus route the 515 service and 806 service will be allowed passage through the road closure.

If you have any queries regarding the passenger transport arrangements please either contact the operator directly, or the Essex Passenger Transport Team on 0345 603 7631. You can also follow the passenger transport twitter account: @Essex_pt
