About the works

Arrangements have been made to replace the traffic signals at two locations along Railway Street, Braintree.

Our aim is to improve the signals before they become unreliable and fail to work properly, replacing the aging poles and equipment, and upgrading the signals using extra low voltage equipment which will also help to reduce our carbon footprint.

How it will affect you

Works are due to start at the junction of B1256 Railway Street / B1256 South Street / Rose Hill / Station Approach from Monday 13 March 2023 and expected to take approximately four weeks to complete.

These works will be carried out overnight between the hours of 7pm and 5am to limit the impact on local residents and businesses. During working hours lane closures will be required with temporary multi-way signals to manage traffic. During the day the temporary traffic signals will be set up to mimic the existing traffic signals.

Works will also be taking place at the junction of B1256 Railway Street / Manor Street from Monday 13 March 2023 for approximately one week. These works will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 10am and 3pm. There will be temporary two-way signals in place.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and for safety a temporary controlled pedestrian crossings will be installed.
