Vegetation clearance undertaken ahead of start of regeneration works

Work on the exciting regeneration plans for St Botolph's Circus are set to get underway this Spring.

As an important gateway into the city centre, the regeneration works will improve accessibility, safety and better connect nearby residential areas.

Ahead of starting construction we need to remove some vegetation and a small number of trees from the works area.

Trees and accompanying planting are a very important element of the regeneration plans, providing visual, landscape and biodiversity enhancement. So, to replace the 15 being removed, we will planting a minimum of 30 replacements. These will be a mixture of mature and young trees suitable for a city centre environment, with a maintenance plan in place to ensure they become established.

To avoid bird nesting season, and to save time later in the programme the tree removal works will start on Monday 23 February 2026 and will take up to 14 days. To minimise disruption, the works will take place overnight between 8pm and 5am. Some temporary lane closures will be in place during working hours, as required.
