Stambridge Road Culvert works update

Arrangements have been made to carryout lining works at the culvert located on Stambridge Road. The works will be carried out in two stages with the first stage due to start on Monday 16 August 2021 for approximately 4 days.

Lane restrictions with two-way traffic lights will be in place on Monday 16 August 2021 in order to install a temporary dam. From Tuesday 17 August 2021, Stambridge Road will be closed at the culvert for approximately 3 days while we carry out the first stage of the lining works.

Following the completion of the first stage of the culvert lining, brickwork repairs are planned to take place from Tuesday 31 August 2021 for approximately 4 days. During this time there will be lane restrictions managed by temporary traffic lights on Stambridge Road.

Bus operators have been provided notice of the works so they can make adjustments to their services during the road closure. Passengers who wish to access the service 60 and live south of the road closure will need to contact Arrow Taxi’s who will provide a taxi to connect with the service 60 at either North Street or East Street to continue your journey.

Passengers are required to pre-book two hours before travelling by calling Arrow Taxi’s on: 01621 855111.

The bus service north side of the closure will still be in operation but will turn around in Ash Tree Court and reconnect with the normal route.

Advance warning notices will be used to advertise the works and appropriate diversions in place during temporary road closures.

The second stage of lining works will be completed later in the current financial year and we will provide a further update as soon as arrangements are confirmed.
