Opportunity to meet St Botolph's Circus contractor ahead of roundabout works

Residents can meet the contractor delivering the St Botolph's Circus regeneration project.

The contractor overseeing the regeneration of St Botolph's Circus is hosting a drop-in event for residents. The event takes place in August and marks the start of major works on the roundabout.

Essex County Council appointed Jackson Civil Engineering to deliver the £15.2 million redevelopment.

Jackson has been carrying out enabling works in recent weeks. These include site surveys, the establishment of a site compound and office facilities.

Representatives from Jackson will be available at the event to explain how the project will be delivered. This includes the phasing of works and traffic management arrangements during construction.

The drop-in event is ahead of more visible construction works getting underway.

Tim Honeyball, Project Manager at Jackson, said: “We are pleased to be delivering this important project for Colchester. It will not only regenerate this important part of the city but will also improve safety and accessibility for people using the junction, particularly those travelling from the south of the city centre.

“We appreciate the need to keep traffic moving and we are coordinating our works with the nearby East Hill project.

“Our aim is to maintain two lanes of traffic during peak times around the roundabout. The team will be reviewing how traffic is flowing to ensure the works are delivered as safely and efficiently as possible.”

Team Colchester - a joint initiative between Essex County Council and Colchester City Council - is overseeing the project. The regeneration of St Botolph's Circus is being funded through government investment.

The scheme forms part of a wider programme of regeneration projects across the city. This includes the transformation of St Nicholas Square and the new Digital Forum. It also includes the restoration of Jumbo and the St Botolph's Quarter development.

Works at St Botolph's Circus are scheduled to complete in autumn 2027.

The public drop-in event will take place at: St Botolph's Church (St Botolph's Street Colchester CO2 7EE) on 6 August from 2.30pm to 6.30pm.
