New Street cycle route update

Some initial site investigations have been carried out and we anticipate that, subject to all the necessary approvals and arrangements being in place, main works to upgrade the cycle route along New Street could start as early as 6 January 2020.

To minimise inconvenience during construction, we anticipate that the majority of work will be carried out overnight with the support of temporary road closures, however access to all roads and businesses along the route will be maintained from either side of the closure point.  

Work will be carried out in block sequences from north to south.  This allows access from either the north or south, depending on where we are at the time. All diversions will be signed, and access will be clearly set out.

During the daytime the road layout will return to normal two-way traffic flow with some cones and barriers in place to protect the works.
