Junction 7A opening: Fun-Run ticket sales close 11:30pm tonight

With the new M11 Junction 7A due to be completed in the coming days, local people are being given the chance to view the new infrastructure before it opens to traffic, with a special Fun Run which takes place tomorrow (June 9th).

Open to all ages and abilities the event will see participants travel from the London Road Roundabout to the new junction and back, a route of approximately 5km.

Cllr Lesley Wagland, Essex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Renewal, Infrastructure and Planning, said: “With the new junction and link road reaching completion, we want to make the most of this unique pre-opening period and give local people an opportunity to see the new infrastructure ahead of it opening. Whether you want to run, jog or walk, the event is a great chance to see the scheme and we hope, raise some money for local charities."

Supported by Harlow Running & Tri Club and Active Essex, the Fun Run starts at 7pm tomorrow with participants able to register here. Participants over the age of 16 are being asked to make a £10 donation, which will be split between a local charity supporting children living with cerebral palsy and St Clare Hospice.

There are only a few tickets left and sales will close at 11:30pm tonight (8th June)!

During the event, a short road closure will be in place on Gilden Way from the London Road Roundabout (which will remain open to traffic) and the Campions Roundabout from 6pm to 9pm to ensure the safety of participants. During this period diversions will be well signposted and the road will be opened as soon as possible once the event is completed.
