East Hill construction update - update 20/08/26

Works on East Hill are now underway and progressing well, following the appointment of Octavius Infrastructure as the main contractor.

Works completed so far:

• Deep drainage investigation works at the Guildford Road junction
• Start of installation of the new kerb lines adjacent to Lewis Gardens and east of Priory Street
• Construction of a temporary pedestrian crossing and pedestrian diversion on the northern footway
• Removal of the central island on Roman Road
• Removal of the pathway build-out west of Priory Street
• Relocation of the coach stop from St James' Church to Stop 'Hb' (outside Minories).
• Phase 1 of basement condition surveys
• Installation of audio signal alerts at temporary pedestrian crossings

Upcoming works:

• Continued installation of new kerb lines on the south side of East Hill.
• Zebra crossing widening
