Colne Causeway crossing improvements

Work to improve the Colne Causeway crossing facilities are due to get underway next week (4th September).

Part of a wider project to support walking and cycling between Colchester City Centre, the University of Essex and Greenstead the upgrade will see the existing crossing point to Elmstead Road upgraded and the pavement widened to make it more accessible.

This will see the existing staggered crossing point replaced with a single straight-across toucan crossing, suitable for pedestrians and cyclists.

Works on the crossing are due to get underway on the 4th September and will last approximately six weeks. The works will predominantly take place overnight between 8pm and 6am to minimise disruption, and noise will be kept to a minimum as much as possible.
