Brentwood High Street road surface improvements and continuing Cadent works

Our surfacing improvement works on Brentwood High Street have progressed in coordination with Cadent, who are upgrading the gas pipes in the area.

We have removed the existing granite setts from the carriageway between Crown Street and St Thomas Road, replacing the surface with asphalt. This decision, made in consultation with Brentwood Council, results in a smoother and safer road surface for all users.

Our main surfacing and lining activities are being finalised today, with site clearance activities and partial road reopening planned to follow from 21 October, while Cadent continue their programme.

Traffic management update: 21 to 26 October 2025

During this period, Cadent will be adjusting traffic management as they move into the next phase of their works. Please note the following restrictions:

  • A1023 High Street Brentwood will be open to east bound traffic only (from Weald Road/Kings Road towards Wilsons Corner). No westbound traffic will be permitted.
  • A128 Ingrave Road will be open to south bound traffic only (from Wilsons Corner towards Queen Road). No northbound traffic will be permitted from B186 Queens Road/A128 Roundabout towards Wilsons Corner.

We sincerely thank local businesses, residents, and shoppers for their patience to date and continued support throughout these remaining works in the area.
