Welcome to the Highways Service Information Centre
Essex Highways have completed a series of improvements along the westbound carriageway of the A13 between Pitsea Flyover and Five Bells Roundabout during May 2026.
Working overnight to minimise disruption, the team machine surfaced 25,736m2 of the route (around 3km), and completed over 3500 repairs to the concrete expansion joints beneath the new surface.
Joint repairs were also carried out to the full width of the bridge, and new road markings were added throughout.
While the road was closed, we also took the opportunity to clear 165 gullies, litter pick and cut the grass and vegetation as part of our twice‑yearly maintenance.
These improvements help keep this busy stretch of the A13 safe, smooth and well maintained for everyone.
Thank you for your patience while the works were carried out.
