Have your say on proposals to alleviate parking issues in Takeley

A proposal has been put forward to introduce red lines in Takeley to help improve access.

Residents, businesses and road users can share their views on proposals to introduce red lines on Parsonage Road, Takeley. The aim is to help alleviate parking issues in the area.

It is understood the parking issues are caused by holiday makers using the road for parking while they travel. It is also believed that car parking companies are leaving vehicles while customers are away.

While parking is the primary issue, it has also made it more difficult for buses to access the road and reduced visibility for all road users.

The introduction of red lines would prevent any vehicle stopping on them. Red routes mark where stopping, waiting, parking or loading is strictly prohibited.

Councillor Mark Webster, Cabinet Member for Highways and Infrastructure at Essex County Council, said: “Residents have raised concerns with me about the parking problems in this area and the impact they can have on people living nearby, as well as buses and other road users.

“These proposals are about improving access and making the road safer for everyone who uses it. No decision should be taken without giving local people the opportunity to have their say, so I would encourage residents, businesses and road users to look at the proposals and share their views.”
