Cadent Gas utility works update - St Botolph's Circus

Ahead of starting the planned major regeneration of St Botolph’s Circus, advanced works are needed to help make sure that critical utilities will not be impacted by the works when they get underway.

Cadent Gas Ltd have a permit in place to undertake works between September and November (10 weeks). Following initial survey work, Cadent have confirmed that the gas main on the roundabout itself does not need to be protected ahead of the start of the project, reducing the overall works and associated time required.  

From the 30th September Costain, working on behalf of Cadent will be back on site to undertake ancillary works.  This involves replacement of mains running between the Brittania Way Car Park and St Botolph’s Circus Roundabout, works on the roundabout itself and the cut-off of a redundant pipe on the southwestern side of the junction.  Works on the roundabout are due to be completed by the 8th October. On the 9th October, the traffic management will be transferred onto Southway on the south side of the roundabout to enable the cut-off off a redundant pipe near St Johns Green. Work is currently expected to be fully completed by the 22nd October.
