About the scheme
Hinds Bridge carries the B1023 Inworth Road/Kelvedon Road over Domsey Brook in Inworth.
Inworth Road connects Kelvedon to the northwest with Tiptree to the southeast.
The bridge, which comprises of two brick arch spans are in a weakened condition and require strengthening. Brick replacement work will also be carried out underneath the structure as part of the improvements including repairs to the parapet and headwalls.
Existing erosion protection measures to the central pier in the watercourse will be replaced with reinforced concrete beams.
Strengthening works commenced Monday 30 July 2018/ The anticipated completion date for the works is mid October 2018.
Engineers will typically work between the hours of 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday, with reduced working on Saturdays (between 8am and 1pm).
Please note that dates may be subject to change at short notice if hampered by poor weather or unexpected issues.
Although the works were originally managed with lane reductions (support of two way temporary traffic lights) and a 3 tonne weight limit, due to some vehicles failing to observe the weight restriction it has become necessary to install a full time, 24 hour road closure at the bridge until further notice. This is necessary to allow engineers to safely work under the bridge.
The road closure applies to all vehicles with drivers advised to followed signed diversions in place.
