An update will be provided when we are in a position to reschedule the works, which we expect will be later this financial year.

About the scheme

Plans are being made for works to take place on Hoppit Bridge which carries Notley Road over the River Brain in Braintree. The bridge is located immediately between Notley Road’s junction with Godlings Way and St John’s Avenue.

The bridge deck is currently in a weakened condition and needs replacing. The bridge was constructed in two stages, the original deck on the west side and part of the extended section on the east wide will be removed and rebuilt. The new deck will comprise of pre-stressed concrete beams and a reinforced concrete deck.

 

The works

Due to unforeseen circumstances the bridge deck replacement works have been postponed and will not begin in June 2021.  An update will be provided when we are in a position to reschedule the works, which we expect will be later this financial year.
