Hall Road, Rochford

About the scheme:

Engineers appointed by Bellway Homes are progressing works in Rochford to create an access and T junction to support the new residential development, as well as other highway improvements to improve traffic flow. 

The works

Works began in March 2016 to undertake the following improvements:

  • Provision of a new T junction and roundabout in Hall Road
  • Lane widening at Hall Road/Ashingdon Road/West street to manage traffic flow
  • Lane widening at Southend Road/Sutton Road to manage traffic flow
  • Improvements to footways, drainage and street lighting on Ironwell Lane

It is anticipated that work will be complete by late summer 2016, however this is subject to works not being hampered by weather or unexpected issues discovered during the work. 

What is involved and how may it affect you?

Some overnight road closures will be required during the roadworks, details of which will be published in advance on this webpage and on local signage.

The developer’s appointed contractor, Breheny Civil Engineering, will monitor traffic during the works to minimise delays where possible, however drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and consider the use of alternative routes where possible as delays are likely.

 

Advance notice - Sutton Road, Rochford works:

Night works are scheduled on Sutton Road to enable kerb realignment works and carriageway resurfacing to take place between the hours of 6.30pm and 6.30am on the following dates:

  • 20 October  
  • 26 October 

Residents will be contacted by the developer about these works. 

Night road closure, Sutton Road (between Southend Road and Purdeys Way):

Overnight works in Sutton Road are scheduled to be undertaken by Essex Highways on the following dates to allow carriageway resurfacing to be undertaken:

  • 27 October
  • 28 October

The nature of the work requires the road to be closed however outside of the hours of work the road will be reopened to traffic.
