About the scheme

Footway and carriageway reconstruction works are planned for St John’s Green, Colchester.  The road and footways are currently in a poor condition so the work will require upgrading the kerbing where necessary and carrying out resurfacing improvements to the footways.

What is involved and how it may affect you

Works are due to start from Monday 26 July 2021 and are expected to take approximately six weeks to complete with weather permitting and no unexpected issues arising.

The majority of the improvements will be carried out during the daytime between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.  There will be a phased road closure and parking suspensions during the works. A local diversion route will be in place during temporary road closures and alternative parking locations will be advised by the on-site team.

As the works involve excavations, reconstruction and surfacing of the carriageway and footways, there may be periods when driveway access will be temporarily restricted within the closed section of road.

Works are being phased to limit amount of time each property fronts the works to minimise inconvenience as much as possible.
