About the scheme

We're carrying out pre-slurry treatment works in and around Furtherwick Road, Canvey Island to help preserve the road and extend its lifespan.

The scheme will involve a pre-slurry treatment, which is a preventative maintenance technique designed to seal the road surface, prevent water ingress, and improve long-term durability.

The treatment forms part of our ongoing programme of highway maintenance and is designed to protect and preserve the existing road surface.

By carrying out preventative maintenance now, we can help extend the life of the carriageway, improve ride quality, and reduce the need for more disruptive repairs in the future.

How the work will affect you

The works are scheduled to start on 12 October, with the overall scheme expected to take approximately 23 weeks to complete. Working hours will typically be between 08:00 and 16:00, although these may vary if required.

Please note that all dates are weather-dependent and may be subject to change if any unexpected situations arise.

Works will take place in and around Furtherwick Road, Canvey Island. Specific working areas will be phased throughout the programme and will be communicated on-site as the scheme progresses.

Traffic Management

To ensure the safety of our workforce and the travelling public, temporary traffic management measures will be in place while works are being undertaken.

Access for residents and businesses will be maintained wherever possible, although there may be some delays during certain stages of the works.

We advise motorists to allow extra time for their journeys and follow any signed diversion routes where required.
