Mile End Road cycle improvement scheme

Construction of the Mile End Road cycle scheme is now underway, which will provide a shared footway/cycleway along Mile End Road, from Braiswick Lane to Bruff Close.

The design has been altered to accommodate suggestions provided by members of the public following an information event held last year. The new plans are available to view below.

The work began March and is anticipated to be completed by Mid August 2016. To facilitate this work, we have had to undertake the removal of some trees. However, we will replace these with a more appropriate species, which is less likely to cause damage to the footway from root growth. In addition, we will also carry out drainage, street lighting and resurfacing work to the existing footway.

Traffic management will be in place throughout the work, including lane and footway closures as we work in phases. Access to properties will be maintained at all times.
