We will be carrying out essential carriageway surfacing improvements on Clifton Road, Loughton. These works are part of our ongoing commitment to maintain and improve the county’s road network and maintain safety for all users.
The programme includes:
Due to the narrow layout of Clifton Road, the works will be complex and require temporary parking restrictions.
We have carefully phased the programme to minimise disruption and residents and businesses, and maintain access to the Clifton Road car park where possible. Traffic restrictions will be adjusted to maintain safety and reflect the work being carried out.
Works are scheduled to begin on 5 January 2026 and continue until the end of the month working between the hours of 8am and 5pm.
To ensure safety and to allow space for machinery and equipment, the following traffic management measures will be in place:
Clifton Road will be fully closed during working hours (between 8am and 5pm).
Temporary traffic lights will be in place on a short section of Forest Road at the Clifton Road junction to support the safe movement of equipment and vehicles.
To accommodate the works, access to the car park will vary:
Monday 5 January to Wednesday 7 January 2026 Access to and from the car park will be via the current exit only.
Friday 9 January to Tuesday 27 January 2026 (weekdays only) There will be no access to or from the car park via Clifton Road between 8am and 5pm.
Outside of our working hours and at weekends, the car park will remain fully accessible.
To ensure the safe and efficient delivery of the works:
Clearway/No Parking zones will be in place on Clifton Road and part of Forest Road.
Warning signs will be clearly displayed to indicate when the restrictions are effective.
Please do not leave vehicles in these areas during enforcement times as they may be issued a Penalty Charge Notice and be relocated by our qualified contractor.
Vehicles parked in Clearway zones during enforcement periods may receive a Penalty Charge Notice and vehicles relocated by our contractor. Warning signs will be clearly displayed.
We kindly ask all drivers to drive cautiously through the area during our works following all signage and adhere Clearway/No parking zones.
