Welcome to the Highways Service Information Centre
As part of the planning application granted to Hopkin Homes for the Bournbridge Hill development in Halstead (applications 19/00493/OUT and 24/02300/REM), works will begin in summer 2026 and are due to complete during December 2026.
The scheme is designed to improve local infrastructure and provide access to a new housing development including:
The developer is responsible for the works, and have appointed Centaur Construction to carry out construction activities on their behalf.
Work starts on 3 August 2026 and is anticipated to complete in December 2026. The works will be delivered in phases, with traffic management adjusted to reflect the activities taking place. Please note that dates may change if the programme if is affected by unsuitable weather conditions or if unforeseen issues arise.
It is expected that much of the construction will be carried out with the support of two way temporary traffic lights, however a limited number of overnight road closures will also be required later in the programme, when details will be advertised in advance.
Throughout the entirety of the project, a speed reduction of 30mph will be necessary for safety reasons.
We encourage drivers to plan their journeys and allow extra travelling time to avoid experiencing delays.
While the developer is responsible for ensuring that residents and businesses receive key information about their works, Essex Highways will share updates on this webpage as information becomes available.
