About the scheme 

Highway improvements to support Hospital Approach residential development.

The scheme is part of a section 106 planning condition granted by Chelmsford City Council (application no. 13/00409/FUL) for the Countryside development on the land East of North Court Road and North of Hospital Approach.

The improvement works will provide suitable access into the new development 

The works have been designed to increase the capacity of Hospital Approach and improve the flow of traffic. 

 

About the works 

Works are currently focused on widening Blasford Hill and constructing a pedestrian island.  Associated drainage, signage, resurfacing and road marking works will also be carried out.

 

When will the works take place and how will it affect you

Improvements to Blasford Hill are expected to start 24 September 2018, continuing until early November 2018.

As a traffic sensitive site the developer's appointed contractor will manage traffic flows during the works.  This will include the use of 2 way traffic lights, operated under manual control Monday to Saturday between the hours of 7am and 7pm, to minimise congestion when temporary lights are required.

Access to properties will be maintained at all times, however some disruption to pedestrian access may be experienced while new footpaths are installed.  The contractor's onsite team will endeavour to support residents with access to minimise inconvenience.

Dates may be subject to change if the works are affected by poor weather or if unexpected issues arise.

Please take additional care, allowing additional time when passing through the area and observing signage. 

 

Further information

The developer will provide the necessary notifications to local residents, businesses and interested parties in advance of works.   Scheme plans are available in the document section below.

Updates will also be made available on this webpage as the scheme develops, however on site signage will also provide the most up to date information about the work programme.  Additional roadworks information can be found on: www.roadworks.org. 

The works will be completed by Breheny Contractors on behalf of Countryside.
