Archaeological and Geoarchaeological Investigations

Chelmsford North East Bypass is moving into the next stage of development so you might have noticed the presence of our staff in proximity to the proposed bypass.

They are undertaking archaeological and geoarchaeological investigations in several locations along the proposed route in order to gather sufficient information to establish the presence/absence of any archaeological deposits, and to assess the potential impact of the development on any archaeological remains in the area of the planning application. This work will then inform the requirement for any future archaeological mitigation.

Our work, which will take place during the day, is likely to last three months, although this may change depending on our findings.

Everyone involved in the activities will endeavour to limit any disruption but please do not hesitate to contact us should you require further assistance cneb@essexhighways.org.
