Works to reconstruct the Pond Hall culvert, situated at the junction between Bradfield Road and Wix Road, Manningtree has been completed, allowing the road to reopen 28 March 2017.

Works were necessary after an inspection of the culvert found some serious cracking and considerable distress to its foundations. The top part of both head walls which supported the carriageway and parapets had collapsed.

The works involved demolition of the existing culvert and reconstruction of a new culvert at the same location. The new culvert was designed to be slightly wider than the existing culvert and provide additional width for verges on both sides of the carriageway, improving safety of road users.
