Dr Jake Richards
NFU County Adviser, Essex.
Having grown up on the family farm in South Suffolk I spent a period of 7 years studying and working in crop research at the University of Nottingham where I completed a PhD. More recently I have joined the East Anglian regional team of the NFU working for the members of Essex. I now work on a full time basis for 1000 farmers in the county providing advice and representation on a number of issues including rural crime, access, coastal issues to name a few. One of the main aspects of my role is to work collaboratively with other organisations in the county in particular the County and local councils, Essex police and the public. Agriculture is going through a significant period of change and a large part of our work in the coming years will be helping the county’s farmers adjust to this.
