About the scheme
As part of a planning condition for the development of properties on London Road, Rayleigh granted by Rochford Council, improvements to the local highway are required.
The first phase of works will commence on Monday 2 March 2020 and take approximately four weeks to complete. Works will take place on the northern side and will involve widening the footpath, installing foul drainage, redirecting essential gas and electrical supplies across London Road and into the footpath and improving pedestrian crossing facilities.
The new 30mph speed limit will also be extended which will allow for a safe speed limit for those entering and leaving the new housing development as well as pedestrians crossing London Road.
A phased approach has been taken to minimise disruption in the local area. Remaining works will take place a later date.
What is involved and how it may affect you
To ensure the works are carried out in a safe manner, lane restrictions will be in place with the support of temporary two-way traffic signals for the duration. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled during the hours of 7am and 7pm Monday to Sunday subject to weather and other elements to minimise local travel disruption.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
Please note that the programme may be subject to change if affected by poor weather or if unexpected issues arise.
The developer/contractor will provide the necessary updates to any affected local residents, businesses and interested parties in advance of the works, including the on-site signage.
This webpage will continue to be updated as new information becomes available as the scheme progresses.
