The Chelmer Valley Park and Ride site is set to reopen on Monday 17th May 2021.

The Broomfield Hospital Shuttle service remains suspended until further notice.

Broomfield Hospital Shuttle Bus

Buses run to and from the hospital every 23 minutes. Please look out for the new Ugobus mini bus which will now run the service. Timetables are available below, at the hospital, Chelmer Valley Park and Ride site and online through Traveline.

Adult (over 18)
Child (5 up to 18)

Children under 5 travel for free at all times 

Group fare (up to 2 adults and 3 children):

  • All day on weekdays: £5.00
  • Saturday: £3.50 (Saturday special rate will offer better value for 1 adult (£1.50) and 1 child (£1.00) = £2.50).

Short Hop

  • Short hop fare between is only valid between Anglia Ruskin University and City Centre: £1.00 only available on bus payable to the driver.

Park and Ride tickets are valid for both the Sandon and Chelmer Valley service and allow unlimited travel across the two routes. Tickets issued on the Park and Ride service in Chelmsford are not valid for use on the Park and Ride service in Colchester.

Mobile Payments

Download 'First Bus ‘MTickets' app from your app store for speedier boarding. Machines are also available at site which accept cash and card payments for (weekly and monthly only).

MiPermit is coming soon more details to follow. For concessionary bus pass users unable to download the app, cash and contactless can be paid to the driver, but you will need to register your vehicle in the Park and Ride building each time you visit.

Chelmer Valley Park and Ride is located on the A130 east of Essex Regiment Way, accessed from the Pratts Farm Roundabout.

Please note: Cars can exit the site after closing automatically through the barrier system. In emergencies customers can contact Chelmsford City Council’s CCTV Control Centre on 01245 606 299  (24 hours).
