Progress Update - 26 January 2018: A133 Ipswich Road Scheme - vegetation works
Preliminary vegetation clearance works have been undertaken this month on Network Rail land, including essential tree removal on St Andrews Avenue to support improvement works which are due to commence spring 2018.
These works have been undertaken at this time to avoid ecological seasonal constraints later in the year.
Trees replanting will be undertaken by the main appointed contractor prior to the completion of the scheme, which is currently estimated to be autumn 2019.
Work to help alleviate congestion on the A133 and the surrounding network is set to begin in early 2018.
This will consist of major improvement works to the A133 from east of Harwich Road Roundabout to west of Ipswich Road Roundabout.
The work will include junction improvements to the existing Ipswich Road and Harwich Road roundabouts, widening of St Andrew's Avenue carriageway as well as localised improvements to the surrounding local road network.
